Diarmuid Delargy RUA
Diarmuid Delargy has been a full–time practising painter and printmaker for the past 30 years and exhibited widely both nationally and internationally including Las Vegas, New York, San Francisco, Paris and Berlin to name but a few. He has received awards for my work including the Gold Medal at the European Large Format Print Exhibition, Dublin (1991). He is a member of Aosdana, the Royal Society of Painter/Printmakers, London and the Royal Ulster Academy. His interests don’t necessarily lie just in painting, he’s had protracted spells of making prints, particularly etching and lithography. This experience has certainly affected his painting. He received permission from the late Samuel Beckett to make a large suite of prints. He has collaborated with two Irish poets; Ciaran Carson and Paul Muldoon. He is listed in the Dictionary of Living Irish Artists (2010) compiled by Robert O’Byrne. His work is held in most major public and museum art collections in Ireland. His more recent work has mused on the theme ‘Art and Extinction’ and more specifically the ‘Shark Series’ which relates to this broader theme. The work is characterized by and loosely associated with his own ideas about art and extinction. The nature of this work has been a series of ongoing oil sketches developed into bigger and more significant aspects of these studies in larger canvas and/ or board, using oil as the main medium.
